A Winona native is competing for his second time on the Food Network channel in another cake battle. Jeromie Jones, who’s known as the “Kake King,” will be a contestant on the Food Network Challenge “A Christmas Story Cakes.”
According to the listing, the “challenge celebrates one of the most-beloved holiday films of all time, “A Christmas Story.” Hosted by Ian Ziering, he’ll welcome four competitors as they compete for $10,000. One of the competitors will not get to compete on, as one will be sent home and the final three will compete for the grand prize and the title of Food Network Challenge Champion.
Jones previously competed on Cake Wars, another Food Network Challenge, where he also competed against four other people.
He posted on his Facebook page: “In October, I received a call from Food Network stating that I had been chosen to compete on one of the top baking competitions that made the career for many known cake artists we know today! On Monday, I was promoted for the 3rd time in my 4 year career with my company now being named the Director of Operations where I am 2nd in command under the General Manager.”
I said all this to say, stop doubting yourself. Stop wondering if you should take that next leap of faith. Stop allowing yourself to question what God has for you. Had I not leaped in March, I would not have been able to experience all the favor God had planned for my life. Do not wait until 2020, start right now. I’m just a country boy from a small town that had a dream of one day being somebody....”
Jones, who now lives in Dayton Beach, Fla., is the Director of Operations at Bethume-Cookman University. He also teaches online and hands-on cake classes and previously owned a bakery in Pearl. Jones also offers a product line on his website, www.kakeking.com that is doing well.
“I teach 3,000 students online,” Jones said. “I’ve been doing this for 11 years now. My favorite thing to do are wedding cakes.” He said he doesn’t want to own a bakery again, but wants to show people that you can come from humble beginnings and still do great things.
Jones is the son of Sharon Jones- Frances, the grandson of Lucille Powell and the nephew of Cynthis and Derrick Powell.

The contest will air Monday, Dec. 23 at 10 p.m. eastern/ 9 p.m. central and will re-air Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 1 a.m. Eastern/midnight Central and Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 7 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Central.
