HARRISON COUNTY — A nine-year-old Winona girl died as a result of a one car accident on December 23.
According to WLOX, Brianna Bell was one of the passengers in a vehicle traveling on East Wortham Road in Harrison County, when the car veered off the road and struck a tree. In the vehicle, according to the report, was Bell’s uncle, cousin, and a third unidentified child.
A14-year-old is being treated at University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, for multiple injuries including a broken elbow, fractured pelvis and a shoulder injury. The driver was taken to the hospital for a broken femur. A third child in the vehicle was not injured and all in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, according to the Harrison County Sheriff.
The report states that fire and rescue units from Saucier, the Air National Guard Fire Department and the Harrison County Fire Service all responded to the incident.
Dr. Teresa Jackson, Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District Superintendent said one of Bell’s teachers at Winona Elementary School described her as a child with a precious smile that would “melt your heart.”
“She was a beautiful child inside and out,” Jackson stated. “She had a big heart and was always willing to help others.”
Bell’s funeral was Saturday, December 29 at 3 p.m. at Red Hill Church of Christ near Duck Hill, with burial following in the church cemetery. Cole Surrell officiated the services.
She was survived by her parents, Brian Bell and Ashley Brooke Beam; three sisters, Kaylee Bell of Winona, Alexis Bell of Winona, and Caitlyn Hope Bell of Grenada; brother, Levi Wade Bell of Carrollton; paternal grandparents, Glen Bell, and wife Cindy of Winona and Linda Blaylock, and husband Eddie of Gulfport; and maternal great-grandmother, Norma Skelton Cronin of Starkville.
