There is just five days until voters in Montgomery County return to the polls to vote for who will become the next sheriff, tax assessor/collector, justice court judge, constable, District 2 supervisor, and District 3 supervisor.
Polls will open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. Voters must have photo ID with them to vote. In-person absentee voting began on Saturday, Oct. 26 and will end on Saturday, Nov. 2. The last day to mail-in an absentee ballot is Monday, Nov. 4.
In the sheriff’s race, Jeff Tompkins, who defeated incumbent Sheriff Bubba Nix and challenger Jamey Mims in the Democratic Primary Election, will face independent candidate Barry Gregg.
In the Montgomery County Tax Assessor/Collector’s race, Laurie Lockett who defeated Teresa Nabors-Green, Sue Stidham, and Tillford Robinson in the Democratic primary election, will face Republican candidate Brad Johnson and independent candidate Monica Turner.
In the Justice Court Judge race, incumbent Keith Stokes Roberts, a Democrat, will face Edd Lee Collins Jr., and independent candidate, and in the District 2 Constable race, incumbent Jerry Dale Bridges, a Democrat, will face independent challenger Bryan Lott.
In the supervisors’ races, District 2 incumbent Edwin Taylor defeated Normal Small in the Democratic Primary Election and will face independent candidate, Dr. Louie Harrison, and in the District 3 race, incumbent Willie Earl Townsend defeated Katrina Craft-Bays in the Democratic Primary Election and will face independent candidate Arnie Pittman in the general election.
