For some businesses, Coronavirus has been a struggle but for Winona native Wardell Seals, he has been able to expand his offices in Bartlett, Tenn., to provide more training to first responders. Seals, who still works as a paramedic owns HeartbeatCPR.
Seals, who started his career in 978 in Winona, said he moved to Jackson in 1983 and later to Tennessee in 1991 where he and his family settled. During the pandemic Seals said he was able to move into a bigger space which is more useful to his business.
“We can now offer a lot more training because of the space,” Seals said.
He said his business does training, holds conferences and has done COVID-19 training since the pandemic.
“My business is essential because we help medical professionals, daycare workers, so we’ve been busy,” Seals said. Throughout the pandemic, his company has taught first responders in the Bartlett and Memphis area how to spot symptoms of COVID-19 and how to properly train them on what they should look for.
“Most people only wash the front on their hands, but we teach people how to properly wash their hands,” he said. Seals said he also teach people how to take off gloves without using their hands and put on a mask without using their hands—meaning putting a mask on with both hands looping the straps around your ears.
Seals said to put on a mask without using hands, you take your hand and put it on the front of your mask and then use your free hand to place the loops around your ears.
He said he also does stress management and hold conferences and classes for the elderly. Seals said he also recently received a grant from 100 Black Men.
