The republican primary run-off for the 2nd Congressional District republican race between Thomas Carey and Brian Flowers has been postponed until June 23, 2020 in an effort to keep down the spread of COVID-19 also known as the Coronavirus.
The primary election was initially set for Tuesday, March 31.
The two men faced off in the republican primary but neither garnered enough votes to move forward against incumbent Bennie Thompson. The election is only for those who voted republican in the primary, if you voted democrat you are not eligible to vote in the primary.
Those who did not vote in the primary election and vote republican at all are eligible to vote in the republican primary run-off. Absentee voting for run-off election will begin six weeks before the June 23 election.
