Attorney Kelsey Dismukes, will take over as board attorney for the Town of Kilmichael.
Longtime Board Attorney Lane Greenlee told the board of aldermen Tuesday night that he wasn’t “giving them away” and would still be around when he’s needed, but he’s turning the reins over to Dismukes.
“Speaking of old times,” Greenlee said. “None of you were on the board when this happened, but back in 1981, Bobby [Howell] asked me to become the town’s lawyer, and I told him I’d love to serve the Town of Kilmichael. And, I’ve been your attorney for 39 years, now I think it’s time for Kelsey to take over for a while.”
“I had just been elected then,” Howell told Greenlee.
“Yeah, then you were elected as Representative,” Greenlee said.
Greenlee said he will still be at his office if anyone needs his help and could still be contacted.
“And if Kelsey needs my help she can ask me, and I’ll help her or she has something to do the night you all meet, I’ll fill in for her. I’ll still be around.”
Greenlee said nothing much would change, both he and Dismukes are with Greenlee Law Firm, but it would be Dismukes giving legal advice and handling the legal affairs of the town. The board thanked Greenlee for his service.
“Eventually, you’ll be going to the office later,” Howell told Greenlee.
“Probably so,” he said.
