Duck Hill will see its last Bogue Creek Festival, unless someone takes over organizing it next year and the following years to come.
The 36th annual Bogue Creek Festival will be held Sept. 8 in the Lancaster pecan grove, located on the south end of downtown Duck Hill. This year’s grand marshal is North Mississippi Veterans Cemetery Director Mark Lawson. The festival will have entertainment from the Duck Hillbillies, the Long Triplets’, gospel groups, and many more local acts.
Bogue Creek Festival is put on every year by the Duck Hill Lions Club, and it’s the only fundraiser for the club, but club member Nancy Kirk said the group is dwindling down and now has just 11 members. She said each year it is harder to organize the longtime festival, so the decision was made to end it unless someone takes it over.
Proceeds from the festival help support several organizations and services including providing hearing aids, leader dogs and vision tests and supplies for the community.
Kirk said vendor booth space reservations will be taken until the day the festival.
