The Carroll County Board of Supervisors are looking into measures to protect their clerks at the Northern District Justice Court and Tax Assessor/Collector’s Office. The board has been looking into getting a glass window – or protector – for the tax assessor/collector’s office and a door that automatically locks and unlocks.
In the recent data released by the Mississippi Department of Health, Carroll County now has six cases of COVID-19.
The measures come as a way to ensure the clerks and people keep the social distancing rule in place. All county offices are asking people to call before they come to see if it’s a matter than can be handled over the phone.
For the Justice Court office, they’re asking for two doors. One that opens from the outside and an inter door where the person will be buzzed in.
“She [Shonna Mcgehee] didn’t want a glass window, she said it would make her feel claustrophobic,” Supervisor Jim Neill said. He said there are only two clerks that work in the office and if they get sick or have to be out, there won’t be anyone in the office.
