Carroll County Beat 5 incumbent Stella Washington-Bell will retain her seat for the next six years. Circuit Clerk Deputy Clerk Christy Noah said Washington-Bell is the lone qualifier for the seat after no one qualified when it ended on Friday, September 4, at 5 p.m.
Washington-Bell has served on the board since 2015 and is currently the board’s secretary. Vocal about where she stands, Washington-Bell doesn’t hold back her feelings nor hesitates to question where things are.
Her new term will begin January 1, 2021. School board members serve a six-year staggered term. In 2018, Beats 3 and 4 voted for new members and elected Bill Downs and Board Vice-President John Phillips. In 2021, Beats 1 and 2 will go to the polls. The seats are currently held by Board President Donnie Wiltshire and Kenny DeLoach.
