As summer winds down, children –and parents – anxiously await the opening of school doors and happy teachers welcoming them back for their first day of school. And as many parents prepare to shop their school’s supply list for all the needed items, there are two events, one in Duck Hill on July 27 and one happening on Aug. 3 that will help ease parent’s stress.
There will a Montgomery County Back to School Event in Duck Hill and in Winona. On July 27, the event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Duck Hill Gym and on Aug. 3, it will held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the J.J. Knox Gym.
The event is hosted by many community organizations and businesses and is sponsored by Mayor Jerry Flowers and several candidates running for election. There will free food, vision screenings, a chance to dunk your favorite candidate, face painting, bounce houses, music, raffles and more. School supplies will be given to the children in attendance for free.
