Winona swept a softball doubleheader with J.Z. George, winning 28-1 and 16-0. Both games lasted three innings.
“My girls made a lot of errors in the field and just couldn't get their bats on the ball like they needed,” said J.Z. George Coach Jamie Tucker. The Lady Jaguars managed four hits in the two games.
In the first game, Mycala Helms had a triple and two singes with two RBIs for Winona, Allyn-Claire Gant drove in four runs with two hits and Tommesha Brown triple and scored three times. Emilee Lowery had two hits for Winona in the second game.
Jayda Johnston pitched the opener and Helms the nightcap for Winona. Johnston allowed three hits and fanned three. Helms struck out six and surrendered one hit.
J.Z. George concluded its season with a home game Tuesday against French Camp. Winona played Riverside Tuesday and will wind up the season Thursday with a home game against Ethel.
