Montavis Jenkins will be the lone representative from J.Z. George at the MHSAA 3A state track meet Saturday at Pearl High School.
Jenkins, a junior, finished second for the boys discus at the 3A North State meet at Center Hill High School last Saturday with a throw of 122 feet, one inch. Alcorn Central senior Jacob Holloway won the event at 123 feet.
The top four in each event qualified for the state meet.
Other J.Z. George boys who competed in the North State meet were Ceasa Glenn, fifth in the 1600, Malik Branch, seventh in the 1600 and the 1600 and 3200 relay teams, both with fifth place finishes.
For the Lady Jaguars, Olivia Carpenter was sixth in the 400, Rakia Ball sixth in the 3200 and the 1600 relay team of Carpenter, Ball, Zamya Fleming and Zjaihidecia Liddell finished seventh.
