Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, at Liberty Baptist Church in the Jefferson Community of Carroll County for Mr. Code Dean Whitfield, Jr., 93, who passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. Burial will follow in the Moore’s Memorial Cemetery.

Carroll Academy’s girls fastpitch softball team opened District 2-2A play last week against Deer Creek School and lost all three games to the Lady Warriors.

In the first game Monday, Deer Creek claimed a 10-0 win. Deer Creek scored nine runs in the first and one in the third. Carroll’s defense committed six errors.
