Carroll Academy’s girls fastpitch softball team opened District 2-2A play last week against Deer Creek School and lost all three games to the Lady Warriors.
In the first game Monday, Deer Creek claimed a 10-0 win. Deer Creek scored nine runs in the first and one in the third. Carroll’s defense committed six errors.
Kaylyn Wiltshire took the loss in the circle, allowing all 10 runs on four hits, walking two and fanning one. The Lady Rebels did not have a hit.
The two teams then played a doubleheader in Carrollton last Tuesday. The Lady Warriors won the first game 10-0 and took the second contest 8-4.
In the first game, Deer Creek scored one run each in the first, second and fifth frames, three in the third and four in the sixth.
Layla Neese (1-3) took the loss as she went all six innings, allowing 10 runs on (eight earned) on six hits, walking five and fanning four. Natalee Mitchell had two singles, and Wiltshire had a single.
In the second game, Deer Creek plated one run each in the first and fourth innings, and three runs each in the second and fifth innings. Carroll scored three runs in the fourth and one in the sixth.
Wiltshire (2-6) took the loss as she went seven innings, yielding all eight runs (four earned) on 11 hits, walking three and fanning three. At the plate, she had a single and scored a run.
Makenzie Reeves had two singles, two RBIs and scored a run, and Sophie Melton had a single. Mitchell and Andie Milton scored a run each.
Carroll (3-9 overall, 0-3 in district), which played at Oak Hill Tuesday, hosts Starkville Thursday. They restart District 2 play Monday at Manchester Academy for a single game. The two teams play a doubleheader at Carroll next Tuesday.
