The Kilmichael Mayor and Board of Aldermen met Tuesday for its monthly meeting, with several issues on the agenda.
Before the meeting began, Mayor Bobby Howell thanked the board for the kindness and compassion towards him and his family after the death of his wife, Charmayne. Howell told each of them that he appreciated them for everything they did and continue to do for him and his family.
The board accepted a bid from DNA Underground, LLC., to make improvement’s on the town’s sewer system. The work will be funded as part of the town’s Community Block Development Grant through the Mississippi Development Authority. Alderman Charles Austin said the company was recommended by Chris Pope with North Central Planning and Development District to complete the work.
Chief Dave Eldridge said the town had two felonious incidents: a break-in at Dollar General and a family dispute where a son shot at his father. Eldridge said warrants have been issued for both parties and both parties have been identified.
The town is moving forward with its Christmas parade and Christmas on the Square. As of right now, Kilmichael and the Carrollton/North Carrollton Christmas parades are the only two parades that are still ongoing due to COVID-19.
The Kilmichael Christmas parade and Christmas on the Square will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. and the Christmas Lighting will take place at 6 p.m.
Matt Bennett, a Christmas on the Square committee member told the board of aldermen that things are moving forward. The committee received a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission to be used on advertising and entertainment.
Bennett said they have confirmed that Little Willie Farmer, who has played with BB King, would perform during the parade.

Approved a payment to reimburse the Town of Vaiden for their payment of the shared domain between the Town of Kilmichael and the Town of Vaiden.
