The Carroll Academy basketball teams stumbled through the District 2-4A Tournament last week.
The Lady Rebels opened with a 54-33 loss to Central Holmes on Thursday but bounced back and took a 30-24 win over Indianola on Saturday to finish third.
The Rebels lost both games in the 2-4A tournament as they opened with a 58-37 loss eventual champion Greenville St. Joseph. The Rebels also lost the consolation game 46-44 to Indianola.
The Carroll Academy girls will play District 1 No. 2 seed Kirk Academy on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. while the Rebels will play Rossville Academy on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
Central Holmes girls 54, Carroll 33
The Lady Rebels couldn’t hold onto an early lead as the Lady Trojans pulled away in the middle two periods to take a 21-point win.
Carroll held a slim 9-8 lead at the end of the first period before Central Holmes outscored the Lady Rebels 15-6 in the second to lead 23-15 at the half. Central Holmes continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Carroll 16-6 in the third and 15-12 in the fourth.
Meri Brynn Reeves led Carroll with 13 points while Anna Laken Taylor had seven points.
St. Joseph boys 58, Carroll 37
The Irish started strong in each half and cruised to a 21-point win over the Rebels on Thursday.
Greenville jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the first period and each team scored 13 points in the second period as the Irish led 32-18 at the half. St. Joseph then outscored Carroll 17-7 in the third to lead 49-25 going to the fourth. Carroll took the fourth 12-9 for the final margin.
Noah Beck led Carroll with 17 points while Mathis Beck added 13 points.
Carroll girls 30, Indianola 24
The Lady Rebels started strong in each half and took a six-point win over the Lady Colonels on Saturday in the consolation game.
Carroll led 9-3 at the end of the first before Indianola outscored the Lady Rebels 7-2 to cut the lead to 11-10 at the half. Carroll then pulled away and outscored IA 11-4 in the third to lead 22-14. Indianola took the fourth period 10-8 for the final margin.
Anna Laken Taylor led Carroll with 14 points while Bella Carter had eight points. Meri Brynn Reeves also chipped in six points.
Indianola boys 46, Carroll 44
The Colonels started strong and finished fast as they took a two-point win over the Rebels in the consolation game on Saturday.
Indianola jumped out to a 12-9 lead in the first period and then outscored Carroll 12-11 in the second to lead 24-20 at the half. Carroll then outscored Indianola 14-8 in the third period and took a 34-32 lead into the fourth period. But the Colonels then outscored the Rebels 14-10 in the fourth to take the win.
Noah Beck led Carroll with 17 points while Mathis Beck had 13 points.
