The J.Z. George baseball team dropped three games on the diamond last week to fall to 1-9 overall as the regular season winds down.
The Jaguars fell 12-0 and 15-0 to Region 2-2A foe East Webster on April 8 to slip to 0-4 in league play. J.Z. George could only muster three hits in the doubleheader losses to the Wolverines.
In the first game, Michael Bankston took the loss on the mound as he went 3 1/3 innings, allowing all 12 runs on five hits, walking four and striking out two. The Jaguar defense was no help as they committed eight errors.
Thurman “T-Ray” Koch had a single for the Jags.
In the second game, East Webster tallied 10 runs in the first, three in the second and two in the third. Wil’Tavious Williams started on the mound, only recording two outs. He gave up six runs on just one hit, walking four.
Jacob Johnson and Brandon McKenzie had a single apiece for the Jags.
In a game from April 6, the Jaguars lost 10-7 to North Delta School. J.Z. George scored one run each in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings, and three in the second. North Delta plated one in the first, fifth and sixth frames, three in the third and four in the fourth.
Bankston started on the mound, going three innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking two and fanning four. Williams worked the next three innings, yielding six runs on four hits, walking three and fanning one. McKenzie pitched the last inning, giving up one hit.
Bankston drove in four runs with a double and scored one run. Alan Busby had three singles and two RBIs, and Koch had a double and scored twice. McKenzie had a double and scored one run, and Williams had an RBI single. Johnson had a single and scored one run, and Nathan Carpenter and Lake Shute had a single each.
The Jaguars played a doubleheader at Bruce High School in Region 2 action Tuesday. They have added a game against McAdams for April 20. J.Z. George closes out the regular season on April 22 with a pair of home games against Eupora High School.
The Lady Jaguars softball team fell to 0-11 with 23-1 and 17-0 losses to West Point and Calhoun City last week. The defeat to Calhoun City was a Region 2-2A contest, which dropped them to 0-6 in league play.
J.Z. George played a Region 2 doubleheader at East Webster Tuesday. The Lady Jags end the season with a home game against Independence on April 20.
