A Winona man was given a second chance after being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Marcelle Blissett of Winona went before Judge Alan D. Lancaster Thursday morning in Winona Municipal Court. City Prosecutor Putt Crull, Jr. said Blissett was the driver of a vehicle that had several weapons and minors inside. He also said that the teenagers were out past the curfew the city has in place.
Lancaster said he was inclined to give jail time due to the nature of the case.
“He said he didn’t tell them to get in the car with him, they got in on their own,” Public Defender Lee Bailey said.
He said that Blissett has had some trouble in the past, but he’s working on making better decisions. After thinking it over, Lancaster decided to remand the charge.
“Let me tell you, you’re getting a second chance. And a second chance like this don’t always happen here,” Crull told Blissett. “You won’t get a second chance like this again.”
Lancaster told Blissett that if he came back before him on a charge that was anything other than a traffic ticket, he would face the charge that was remanded also.
“I don’t want to see you back here,” Crull told Blissett.
