A Carroll County Sheriff’s deputy recently completed training in Response and Understanding Death Scenes.
Deputy Banks Tucker attended the 16-hour course in Monroe, La., according to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker.
“I appreciate Deputy Tucker’s dedication and his willingness to further his training by attending this conference so that he may better serve the citizens of Carroll County,” Walker stated.
The course is designed to lead participants “through the process of understanding a death scene from the moment they get assigned the call through the scene investigation process,” according to the Death Investigation Academy website.
The course covers areas, including “Identifying Cause, Manner and Mechanism of Death,” “Identify procedures for initial response to call,” and “Identify arrival procedures,” according to the Death Investigation Academy website.
The Death Investigation Training Academy (DITA) provided the instruction, according to a statement released by Walker.
DITA focuses on death investigation and everything surrounding the investigations to better “provide intense and specific training” investigators need, according to the DITA website.
