A Grenada man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Sept. 15 in Winona Municipal Court before Judge Alan D. Lancaster in connection to a shooting on Sept. 9.
Daniel Cordell, 21, of Grenada has been charged with murder and aggravated assault after he allegedly shot Derric Suddoth and Santonio Williams. According to Winona Police Chief Roshaun Daniels, Suddoth and Williams were shot multiple times with a .45 handgun.
Daniels said both men were taken to Jackson with life-threatening injuries. Williams died from his injuries. Cordell was represented by public defender Payne Horan. Lancaster continued Cordell’s $600,000 bond and retained jurisdiction over the bond.
In an unrelated case, a Grenada man and a Greenwood man waived their right to a preliminary hearing in connection to a shooting that took place on July 14 in Oakwood Apartments.
Zyduccious Jones, 18, of Grenada and Taquevious Swims, 20, of Greenwood, were bound over to await the action of the Montgomery County Grand Jury. Jones and Swims have been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting.Jones is represented by Jimmy Powell and Swims was appointed Neal Marlow to serve as public defender.
