Young people from Vaiden and throughout Carroll County will have another opportunity to receive items for school.
GeneraXtion will be giving away long-sleeved and short-sleeved t-shirts along with hoodies, beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the old Vaiden High School gymnasium, according to Lyndera Williams, founder of GeneraXtion.
She said GeneraXtion has more than 60 boxes with approximately 50 pieces of clothing per box, donated by Stanton Warehouse in Memphis, to give away.
“There is a need, and we want to meet the needs of the youth and their families,” said Williams.
Everyone is welcomed to attend the giveaway, she said.
“However, we are targeting the youth and citizens in Vaiden. We suspect many of the youth were not able to attend the Back2School event on [July 19] due to transportation.
The youth and citizens in the Vaiden area will benefit. Our target is definitely the youth attending school,” Williams said. “We know they are in need of new hoodies for school yearly. Our goal is to provide new hoodies every year.”
Young people will be able to get as many t-shirts as they desire and at least two hooded sweatshirts.
“There are a variety of colors, long sleeves, short sleeves, summer t-shirts, etc.,” said Williams.
She said she started GeneraXtion because of her love for young people.
“Catering to their emotional, mental, academic and spiritual needs is my God given mission here on earth. We all have a mission assigned to us when we are born. We must soul search and find out what our mission is and accomplish it until our death date,” Williams said.
As a former educator, she said she saw a need to assist children/youth academically.
“Via GeneraXtion, we are able to provide tutoring sessions for youth in need of developing their reading and math skills, reading in particular,” she said.
According to Williams, GeneraXtion is “in the process of looking for a building to acquire for both our youth and seniors to gather. They need a safe place to congregate and develop. Our seniors are now an intricate part of GeneraXtion’s mission. We understand the need for our elderly to pour into the lives of our youth. Our elderly possess a wisdom that our young people can benefit from
