Winona will be represented in the individual state tournament for 1A and 2A tennis in girls singles and boys doubles.
In Region 3 competition Monday at French Camp, Rachel VanHorn, a two-time defending state champion, remained unbeaten for the season winning two girls singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. The boys doubles team of Nate Tidwell and Joseph Woods qualified by winning two matches before losing in the final to Bradley McGlothin and Cameron Smith of French Camp 6-3, 6-4.
The state tournament will be May 8 and 9 at the FNC Tennis Center in Oxford. There will be competition in boys and girls singles, boys and girls doubles and mixed doubles, with the winner and runner-up in each category from the four 1A and 2A regions.
Winona failed to qualify for the team playoff with a third place finish in the region behind French Camp and Eupora.
