The season of lights

2020 has been a rough year for many. This Christmas, many people are looking for a little joy to at least end the year on a high note.

The staff at the Winona Times/Carroll County Conservative have put together a list of Christmas lights locations for all to enjoy over this holiday season.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY:

Winona: The annual Cain Family Light Show is up and running again this year. The show is a computerized Christmas light show. The show runs Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. The Cain’s home is located on 409 Greensboro Street. This year, the Cain family has added a new prop to the show, be sure to stop and check it out.

Kilmichael: The Town of Kilmichael’s annual Christmas on the Square show will run until December 31. This year’s theme is a Blues Christmas in honor of B.B. King, a native of Kilmichael. The entire square is decorated as they celebrate the joy of Christmas. From the nativity scene to a Santa in blue suit, it’s something all of the family will enjoy.

CARROLL COUNTY:

McCarley: The Cassidy Family Light Show on County Road 81 in McCarley will be sure to dazzle you and your little ones. The annual show will from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and to find it, look for the Merry Christmas sign. The show will be sure to delight.

ATTALA COUNTY:

Hesterville: 

Right off of Highway 35, there’s a house that you cannot miss, the lights dance off of the water as you drive by. It’s no wonder if a favorite of many who take the drive from Vaiden to Kosciusko. 

Kosciusko: And while you’re on Highway 35, be sure to head to the Kosciusko Square to see the lights!

CHOCTAW COUNTY:

This year, the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Let Choctaw County Sparkle! Holiday lighting and decorating contest. Contestants are voted on by viewers by texting their favorite house on the list. And with houses spread throughout the county in French Camp, Weir and Ackerman, spectators are sure to see a treat. For more information, see the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Last day of voting is Dec. 18, but don’t worry, the lights won’t be off then.

WINSTON COUNTY:

Flower Ridge: On December 22 and 23, Flower Ridge United Methodist Church, located at just outside of Louisville on Highway 15, will hold a live drive through nativity scene depicting the night that Jesus was born. The show will begin at 6 p.m. and drivers will drive through the church’s circular parking lot as scenes are depicting at various spots.
