Precision Cabinets, settled along 356 Highway 82 in Winona, became the focal point of a firefighting effort late Friday night, April 5, as flames erupted, consuming a nearby camper trailer and threatening the cabinet shop itself.
The Winona Fire Department sprang into action, responding swiftly to the alarm raised at 11:10 p.m. Within minutes, two fire trucks, manned by seven firefighters, were en route to the scene, cutting through the night as they raced to confront the unfolding disaster.
At 11:16 p.m., the firefighters arrived on-site to a scene of commotion. Upon their arrival, the camper trailer blazed with intensity, casting a glow against the night sky. Its flames grew, reaching out towards the neighboring structure. The fire, originating from the camper, swiftly spread to the west side of Precision Cabinets, posing a significant threat to the property.
Undeterred, the team of firefighters sprang into action, battling the blaze. Utilizing approximately 1,000 gallons of water, they fought tirelessly to contain and extinguish the fire. Despite the ferocity of the fire, their efforts proved successful, and the flames were brought under control in less than an hour.
“It started in the camper trailer, beside the building. The camper was a total loss, but the building was just minimally damaged on the outside wall,” Fire Chief Brad Mooneyham said.
While the camper trailer was a total loss, thankfully, there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. While the camper trailer lay in ruins and the west side of Precision Cabinets bears the scars of the fire, the community breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for the swift response and bravery of the Winona Fire Department.
