An Amory man was arrested by Monroe County law enforcement for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Carroll County.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Clint Walker, Raphael Lashawn Akins, 30, of Amory has been charged in connection with an armed robbery which allegedly occurred on Highway 430, also known as Vaiden-Kilmichael Road, halfway between Vaiden and Highway 407.
Walker said the robbery occurred on the road after a verbal altercation turned violent. Walker said gunfire was exchanged, and the victim accused Akins of taking $776 from his pocket and an IPhone.
“The victim reported the incident,” Walker said.
Walker said AR15 shell casings were found on the roadway where the alleged incident took place.
