After an extensive investigation, Carroll County deputies apprehended 42-year-old Michael Smith, also known as "Country", of Winona Road in Carrollton. The arrest followed a routine traffic stop on McCarley Road, during which deputies uncovered approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine in Smith's possession.
Smith was transported to the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility, where he was booked on charges of trafficking in controlled substance. Bail was set at $50,000 by Judge Ronnie Hicks, and Smith remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
In response to the successful operation, Sheriff Walker commended the dedication and perseverance of the deputies involved in the investigation.
“I commend the deputies who have diligently investigated this case over the past several months. Their hard work and long hours resulted in keeping this substantial amount of narcotics from ever hitting our streets,” Sheriff Walker said. “I thank them for their efforts and for their work in keeping our communities safe.”
