WHS soccer teams dominate final games

The Winona High School girls and boys soccer teams put on the quite the show to close out the 2024 portion of their schedule with sweeps of visiting Louisville High School and Riverside High School last week.

The Lady Tigers (8-2) outscored both opponents by a combined score of 14-0 in beating both Louisville and Riverside 7-0.

Lady Tigers cruise past Kemper 9-2

The Winona High School girls soccer team moved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 4 Class I with a 9-2 triumph at Kemper County High School last Thursday.

Winona got three goals from Mary Beth Brannon and two each from Lilly Chandler and Isabella Durham. Anna Beth Walton and Sofia Guzman had a goal apiece. Guzman also had three assists.

Tigers split week; Lady Tigers fall to Ethel

The Winona High School girls and boys basketball teams both went 1-1 in games played last week.

The Lady Tigers beat Coffeeville High School 50-28 last Tuesday night in Winona to improve to 4-7 overall. The Lady Tigers led 12-4 after the first frame, 25-10 at the half and 31-19 after the third quarter.
