The Winona High School girls and boys soccer teams put on the quite the show to close out the 2024 portion of their schedule with sweeps of visiting Louisville High School and Riverside High School last week.
The Lady Tigers (8-2) outscored both opponents by a combined score of 14-0 in beating both Louisville and Riverside 7-0.
In the first game, which was played Dec. 17, Anna Beth Walton and Mary Beth Brannon scored three goals each. Isabella Durham had one goal, and Lilly Chandler finished with three assists. Brannon also had one assist.
Against Riverside on Dec. 19, Chandler led a balanced attack with two goals. Amarria Tidwell, Sofia Guzman, Brannon and Durham had a goal each. Brannon and Durham also had two assists apiece, and Guzman had one assist.
The Tigers knocked off Louisville 6-1 as Kason Harper and TJ Small scored two goals each. Ben Rosamond and Miles Bailey scored a goal each.
Winona (6-4) held off a pesky Riverside squad for a 3-1 win as Harper, Bailey and Alston Crouch scored a goal each.
Winona returns to action Jan. 7 against Region 4 Class I foe Kemper County at Tiger Stadium. Both teams visit Philadelphia on Jan. 9 in region contests.
