WINONA – A man is facing charges for purposefully setting fire to a duplex apartment.
Lamarcus Hune, 33, of Winona is charged with two counts of arson in connection with a January 7 fire at 1104A North Union and 1104B North Union.
“The fire was investigated by the Winona Police Department and the [Mississippi State] Fire Marshall,” said Captain Dan Herod, chief investigator for the Winona Police Department. “We came to the conclusion that it was arson.”
Herod said the fire originated in 1104A North Union in a bedroom where it appeared the bed was set on fire.
“Through our investigation and talking to witnesses, it led us to naming Hune a suspect,” Herod said.
In a completely separate case, Hune is also facing burglary charges for a February 13 incident at 204A Emerson Street.
“He allegedly forced his way into the residence and assaulted a female at the residence,” Herod said.
Hune was administratively bound over to the action of a Montgomery County Grand Jury by Judge Alan D. Lancaster Tuesday at Winona City Court. Represented by Neal Marlow, Hune is being held on a $500,000 bond at Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden.
Herod said additional charges from a third separate incident are pending.
