TUPELO, Miss. – The National Park Service will close Natchez Trace Parkway between TN Highway 46 (milepost 429) and the northern terminus (milepost 442) south of Nashville, Tennessee at approximately 8 p.m. Central Standard Time today, Jan. 23. Additional closures along the parkway may occur during the storm.
Motorist are advised to avoid traveling Natchez Trace Parkway during winter storms. Motorists should be aware that:

WALTHALL — The Board of Supervisors had an emergency meeting this morning, Jan. 23, to coordinate plans for Webster County’s response to the incoming winter storm.
The board, by unanimous motion, issued a proclamation of existence of a local emergency for a 30-day period commencing at 3 p.m. today (Friday). The declaration proclaims that all county agencies and departments will render all possible assistance and discharge their emergency responsibilities as set forth in the county’s Emergency Operations Plan.

Irutha Triplett
Memorial service for Mrs. Irutha Triplett, 86, were held on January 16th at 11am at Beck Funeral Home Chapel of Louisville. Rev. Joe Shumaker officiated.
Native of Louisville, Mrs. Triplett was born in 1939. She died on January 8, 2026.
Survivors include sons, Adolph Triplett (Shanta), Dennis Triplett, Bennie Triplett (Pamela) and Kelvin Triplett; 14 grandchildren, son-in Law, Eric Ward, and other family and friends.
Beck Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Soup-er Bowl Tasting Competition
The Friends of the Choctaw County Library will host a Soup-er Bowl Tasting Competition on Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Ackerman Library. The event will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes the opportunity to sample all soups and vote for a fan favorite. Prizes will be awarded to top entries, and all proceeds benefit the Choctaw County Library. For information on entering a soup, contact Patty Draper at 662-285-7097.
