The Winona High School girls fast-pitch softball team was waiting to see who it would play in the first round of the State 3A playoffs after its doubleheader with Region 3-3A foe Humphreys County Monday.
The Lady Tigers went 2-2 in four games played last week in moving to 10-11 overall. Winona started the week with a 10-0 setback to region for Yazoo County Tuesday. Hannon Brannon had a double for the lone hit and Madison Henderson took the loss in the circle.
The Lady Tigers visited Amanda Elzy Wednesday as they prevailed 23-3. Winona scored 12 runs in the first inning and 11 in the second. Elzy plated two in the first and one in the third.
Lindsey Berryhill got the win in the circle as she went all three innings, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out six. She scored four runs to help out offensively.
Mary Beth Brannon had two doubles, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Keagan Hall and Kaylee Shirley scored three runs each, and Henderson, Emma Vincent and Kaylen Whitfield scored two runs each. Alisha Taylor and Henderson had one RBI apiece. Winona took advantage of 17 walks issued and six hit by pitches by Elzy.
The Lady Tigers dropped an 18-12 decision to Noxapater High School Thursday. Noxapater scored six runs in the first, two runs each in the second and fourth frames, four in the third, three in the fifth and one in the sixth. Winona plated one run in the first, five in the second and two runs each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Henderson took the loss as she went 4 1/3 innings, allowing 14 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits, walking one and fanning four. Berryhill went 1 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on four hits, walking two and striking out one.
Emily Casiday had three singles and scored three runs, and Hall had two singles, one RBI and scored a run. Mary Beth Brannon drove in three runs with a double, and Taylor had a double and scored two runs.
Berryhill had a single and scored twice, and Henderson had an RBI single. Whitfield had a single and scored three times, and Vincent had one RBI.
Winona closed out the week with a 17-2 win over J.Z. George Friday. The Lady Tigers scored 10 runs in the first, four in the second and three in the third. The Lady Jags tallied one run each in the second and third.
Mary Beth Brannon had five RBIs with a single, double and triple. She also scored four runs. Casiday had four RBIs with a double and two walks, scoring three runs. Hall had two singles and a triple, driving in two runs.
Berryhill had a single, one RBI and scored four times, and Whitfield had a single, RBI and scored once. Henderson and Vincent scored a run and had an RBI each, and Shirley scored two runs.
