The Winona High School tennis season came to an end last Thursday at the district tournament held at East Webster High School.
The Tigers did not have a player advance to the state tournament.
Winona closed out the regular season last Monday with a 6-1 win over Amanda Elzy High School. In girls singles, Marlee Wilkes cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win, and in boys singles, Winona picked up a forfeit win.
In No. 1 boys doubles, Gunner Wilkes and Ben Rosamond won their match 6-0, 6-0, and in No. 2 boys doubles, TJ Small and Brayden Flowers won 6-1, 6-0.
In No. 2 girls doubles, Amaria Tidwell and Mikhalah Coker won their match 6-2, 6-2, and in No. 1 girls doubles, Winona got a forfeit win.
The lone setback came in mixed doubles as A’jerrian Garrett and Ariela Jones lost 1-6, 7-5, 9-11.
Winona High Track
Last Saturday’s Crossroads Relays was canceled because of the weather. The track team is slated to go to Madison Central Friday and the region meets begin next week.
