The Winona High School girls placed eighth overall at the MHSAA State 3A track meet Tuesday at Pearl High School.
The Lady Tigers had 39 team points. Saint Patrick Catholic High School won the girls division with 94 points, and Tylertown was second with 83 points. Alcorn Central came in third with 81 points, and East Webster was fourth with 43 points. South Pike took fifth with 42 points, and Choctaw County and Jefferson County tied for sixth place with 40 points each.
The Winona boys finished 19th overall with eight team points. Tylertown won the boys division with 117 points, and Saint Patrick was second with 98 points. Yazoo County came in third with 72 points, and Holly Springs and South Pike were fourth with 46 points each. Kemper County came in sixth with 41 points, and Alcorn Central finished seventh with 39 points.
Brycelyn Townsend had a good outing Tuesday as she finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.66 and third in the 300-meter hurdles in 49.06. Ariella Jones was second in the long jump in 17-06.5, and Emmy Lou McRae was third in the discus in 88-0.
