On Monday, July 1, at 8:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Emergency Operations Center dispatched the Winona Fire Department to a fire at 742 Church Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene just four minutes later to find smoke coming from an old factory building. Upon entry, they discovered flames inside the structure, originating from boxes stored within.
Three fire trucks responded with a crew of nine firefighters. The team worked diligently to combat the internal fire, using 3,500 gallons of water to extinguish the flames. After nearly two hours of effort, the firefighters successfully completed their task at 10:17 p.m.
This swift response and efficient operation by the Winona Fire Department contained the fire to the interior of the building, preventing it from breaking through to the exterior and potentially spreading to nearby structures.
