Happy New Year!
2023, a new year and a time for new beginnings. The year 2022 has come and gone. 2022 was a hard year for many people who are certainly relieved that the year has passed. They might have faced hardships, disappointments, sickness, and even death of a loved one during the course of the year. Now, as the year 2023 evolves, we eagerly anticipate what it holds and wonder what God has in store for us.
Our watchnight message reminded us that we have come this far by faith, and faith will carry us through.
Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In essence, we believe even though we cannot see it. As Christians, our hope is in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8 reminds us that for by grace are we saved through faith; and that not of ourselves: it is the gift of God. The Bible tells us that we only need faith the size of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20). Nevertheless, just a small amount of faith has a huge impact in our lives. However, our faith should grow continually. We grow spiritually by reading, studying, and applying God’s word daily. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:16). Living by faith may not always be easy, but trusting and depending on God gives us assurance to do just that.
Many of our ancestors walked by faith. For example, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Isaac to name a few. Therefore, we too must live and walk by faith knowing that God will see us through. In closing, continue to grow and walk in faith by trusting the one true and living God.
