The Winona High School tennis team opened its season on Feb. 10 against Senatobia High School, claiming a 4-3 win in Winona.
Gunner Wilkes picked up a win in boys singles as he won his match 2-6, 6-2, 10-8. The No. 1 boys doubles team of Ben Rosamond and Brayden Flowers won their pro-set match 10-7. The No. 2 girls doubles team of Marlee Wilkes and Eden Leach won their match 6-3, 7-5, and the mixed doubles team of A’jerrian Garrett and Amari Tidwell won their match 7-6, 6-4.
Lillian Jones lost her girls singles match 6-7, 3-6, and the No. 2 boys doubles team of Jeffery Butts and T.K. Small lost 1-6, 2-6. The No. 1 girls doubles tandem of Sofia Guzman and Joceline Rodriguez lost 1-6, 4-6.
Winona, which was slated to host Cleveland Central Tuesday, plays again Feb. 24 at home against French Camp.
