The Winona High School baseball team went 1-1 last weekend at the Dixie Roofing Tournament in Winona.
The Tigers (2-1 overall) played their first games since the opener on Feb. 14. Winona got a 16-0 win over Columbus High School Friday night. The Tigers outhit the Falcons 10-1 and scored eight runs each in the first and second innings.
Connor Helms had three RBIs with a pair of hits and scored two runs. Ja’Mes Bays also drove in three runs with one hit and scored two runs.
Gavin Vance and Kam’ron Robinson had two hits apiece and scored two runs each. Vance had one RBI. Miles Bailey had a single, RBI and scored twice, and Chase Richardson had a single and scored a run. Tomarion Brown had a single and scored twice.
Aubrey Bailey got the win on the mound. He struck out four. Wyatt Boone worked one inning in relief, striking out two.
Winona took on Ethel High School Saturday, dropping an 8-5 decision. Ethel plated five runs in the second, two in the fourth and one in the seventh. Winona scored two in the third and three in the sixth. The homestanding Tigers outhit Ethel 8-5 but made four errors defensively.
Danarius Robinson had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs, and Bays drove in two runs and had one hit.
Robinson had two hits and scored once, and Chance Richardson, Vance and Hammond Austin had a single each. Austin drove in one run. Helms and Chance Richardson scored a run each.
Vance started on the mound and yielded three runs on four hits, walking two and striking out two. Helms allowed five runs on one hit, walking three and fanning six.
Winona, which played at French Camp Tuesday, entertains Amanda Elzy Friday.
