The first of the year, 2025, is upon us and we are most likely looking up a different way to prepare black-eyed peas. The tradition, they say, started during the Civil War or shortly after. Union soldiers left behind black-eyed peas after raiding Confederate food supplies and the peas helped them survive the winter.
