Remembering Gov. Barbour’s leadership with Saferoom Grant Program

This past Monday began the application period for the Mississippi Emergency Management’s Safe Room Grant Program, which was offered to individuals in the 33 counties impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding in February 2019 and July 2020.

Building the future: Municipal planning & economic development

Just last month when I gave my 2025 State of the Town Address, I outlined several proposals for the remainder of the current municipal term and for the new 2025-2029 term that is scheduled to begin July 1, 2025. Gov. Reeves to proclaim Spring Severe Weather Week 2025

This past Monday at the Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting at the courthouse in Carrollton, I shared information on Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week 2025. I talked with the state earlier and Governor Tate Reeves is expected to sign a proclamation designating February 9-15 as Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Litter prevention helps communities

Here in 2025 just like in the past, I have always thought that one of the best planning and economic policies should be keeping a town litter free. In 2021, 2022, and 2023 North Carrollton won first place for planning and economic development municipal excellence population under 10,000 for our efforts.
