Sen. Chassaniol's efforts bring $1M improvements

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors is completing road and parking lot improvements across the county, using funds from House Bill 1353, which passed in 2022 with assistance from State Senator Lydia Chassaniol. HB 1353 allocated $1 million in state funds to Montgomery County for infrastructure linked to economic development.

Winona police officer fired after domestic violence arrest

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in the early morning hours of June 27. The call was regarding a domestic disturbance at 2271 MS Hwy. 82 in Kilmichael. The on-scene investigation led to the arrest of Winona Police Officer James Burnett Sr. for the charges of Aggravated Domestic Violence and Kidnapping.

Liberty Tree tradition honored at America 250 event

The Thomas Rodney Chapter of the NSDAR hosted a celebration on Saturday, June 14, commemorating America's 250th anniversary and featuring a ‘Meet Me at the Tree’ ceremony. Originally planned for Old Middleton Cemetery in Winona, the event was relocated to the Montgomery County Arts Council due to inclement weather.
