Carroll County authorities were notified on Monday, Oct. 27, at 2:48 p.m. that a tanker truck hauling herbicide caught on fire north of Vaiden at mile marker 174 resulting in the northbound lane being closed until roughly 5 p.m.
“I notified MDEQ and they arrived on the scene from Madison,” Carroll County Emergency Management Director Ken Strachan said.
Vaiden Beat 5 Volunteer Fire Department, Winona Fire Department, Carrollton/North Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, MedStat Emergency Medical Services, Carroll County Sheriff Department, MDOT, and Carroll County Emergency Management responded.
“Parker wrecker service was called for the cleanup. The tanker was not breached with the fire and there were no injuries,” Director Strachan said
