North Carrollton Mayor Ken Strachan has been appointed chairman of the Mississippi Municipal League’s Education committee for the 2025-2026 term, MML President Patti Pettit made in an announcement.
Mayor Strachan has served on the MML education committee since 2018 and this will be Mayor Strachan’s second term as chairman of the statewide committee. Mayor Strachan served as the education chairman in 2022-2023 term during former Greenwood Mayor Carolyn McAdams term as MML president. The education committee sets the curriculum for municipal officials.
“I’m looking forward to serving in this leadership capacity, we will be building on classes for municipal officials. There are laws and regulations that go into effect each year along with different guidelines in the administration of municipal governments. We will work hard for the municipal officials to have the training and curriculum to serve the citizens in municipalities through all the eighty two counties of Mississippi,” Mayor Strachan said.
Mayor Strachan is currently serving his fourth term as mayor of North Carrollton, is a member of the MML board of directors and is the president of the North Central Mayors Association.
“Another goal will be to offer classes on bringing grant funds to municipalities and the guidelines and paperwork on administering the grants from applying to closing them out in compliance with state and federal regulations,” Mayor Strachan said.
