The Winona Christian Stars qualified for the Class 4A state tournament last week.
After a first-round bye, the Stars beat Greenville St. Joseph 50-41 in quarterfinal action to advance to the semifinals.
But the Stars dropped a tough 46-39 decision to Delta Streets in the semifinals and then lost 64-48 to Marshall Academy in the consolation game on Saturday to finish fourth overall.
Winona Christian advances to the Class 4A state tournament and will take on South No. 1 Central Hinds in first-round action on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
Winona Christian boys 50, Greenville St. Joseph 41
The Stars used a big second period to take a double-digit halftime lead and held on in the se and half to take a nine-point win over the Irish.
Winona led 12-10 at the end of the first period and then outscored the Irish 19-2 in the second period to take a commanding 31-12 lead at the half. The Irish fought back in the second half and outscored Winona 16-8 in the third and 13-11 in the fourth for the final margin.
Zack Bledsoe led Winona Christian with 19 points while Braxton Leach and Brannon Hill each had 12 points apiece.
Delta Streets 46, Winona Christian 39
The Stars weren’t able to hold a first-period lead as the Lions rallied and took a seven-point win in semifinal action on Friday.
Winona Christian led 10-5 at the end of the first period before Delta Streets outscored the Stars 21-16 in the second to tie the game at 26-26 at the half. Delta then outscored WCS 10-7 in the third and 10-6 in the fourth for the final margin.
Zack Bledsoe led Winona Christian with 13 points while Austin Horne and Brannon Hill each had eight points apiece.
Marshall boys 64, Winona Christian 48
The Star fell behind early as the Patriots took a 16-point win in the North 4A consolation game on Saturday.
Marshall outscored Winona 19-11 in the first and 16-8 in the second and held a commanding 35-19 lead at the half. The Stars outscored the Patriots 19-14 in the third period to cut the lead to 49-38. But the Patriots took the fourth period 15-10 to take the win.
