A trio of Winona High School seniors took part in the Northeast Mississippi Coaches Association All-Star Football Game set for Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville on Wednesday.
Jakob Welch, a 6-foot, 280-pound offensive lineman; Jalen Campbell, a 6-foot, 205-pound linebacker, running back; and Jay Lofton, a 5-foot-5, 140-pound wide receiver, returner; were all selected to represent the Tigers in the contest.
The players reported to practice on Monday in preparation for the Wednesday contest. The South team — of which Lofton, Campbell, and Welch are members — will be coached by Stephen Edwards of Eupora High School.
Other area players taking part in the contest are as follows: Edwin Herard of Eupora; Keevon Patterson, Noah Hatcher, and Hunter Dendy of East Webster; and Teliak Davis and Julius Buggs of Choctaw County High School.
