With no meets on the schedule last week, Winona cross country runners participated in a local 5K fun run, the Pumpkin Dash, opened to all comers.
“It went really well,” said coach Chris McRae. “The kids really enjoyed it. They had a good time.”
Winona will host a meet today (Thursday) and will host a region meet Oct. 25.
McRae serves on the Mississippi Association of Coaches Track & Cross Country Committee. “Our Number 1 duty is to line up speakers for the MAC clinic,” he said. “We started working on that the day after this year’s clinic ended.”
The MAC hosts a clinic for coaches every summer.
The other committee members are Pearl track coach Chris Barnett and Center Hill coach J.J. Downs. McRae, who also coaches Winona track, is serving his third year on the committee.
