The Winona Christian Stars finished up their pre-Christmas schedule with a pair of blowout wins over Benton Academy. The Lady Stars hammered the Lady Raiders 62-38 while the Stars cruised to an 83-60 win over Raiders.
Winona Christian will return to action on Friday as they take on rival Carroll Academy in a crucial district contest.
WCS girls 62, Benton 38
The Lady Stars outscored the Lady Raiders in every period as they took a 24-point win last week.
The game was tight early as Winona led 12-10 at the end of the first but the Lady Stars outscored Benton 11-5 in the second to lead 23-15 at the half. The Lady Stars blew the game open in the third, outscoring the Lady Raiders 20-9 in the third to take a 43-24 lead into the fourth. Winona continued to extend the lead in the fourth, outscoring Benton 19-14 for the final margin of victory.
Bella Roberts led Winona with 20 points and five assists while Sara Burden White added 10 points. Caitlyn Mullins and Haley Beckwith each had seven points apiece while Audrey Eldridge and Olivia Brooks each added six points apiece.
WCS boys 83, Benton 60
The Stars used a balanced scoring attack as they took a 23-point win over the Raiders.
Winona Christian led 18-8 at the end of the first period but Benton outscored the Stars 22-18 in the second to cut the lead to 36-30 at the half. The Stars pulled away in the third period as they tripled up the Raiders, outscoring Benton 30-10 to take a 66-40 lead going into the fourth. Benton took the fourth 20-17 for the final margin.
Reed Roberts had a good night as he led the Stars with 22 points while Choyce Diffey and Latham Hill each had 19 points apiece. Dalton Wiggins had nine points and Jacob Munn also chipped in six points apiece.
