The Winona High School tennis team claimed a 5-2 win over Nettleton High School Monday in the Class 3A playoffs.
The Tigers played Booneville Wednesday in the third round.
Kirven McCrory and Molly Tompkins picked up wins in boys and girls singles. McCrory defeated Tate Hitchcock 6-0, 6-2, and Tompkins got a 6-2, 6-1 win over Leah Langford.
In No. 1 boys doubles, Jordan Leech and Gunner Wilkes posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jamal Pierce and Seth Stephens. In No. 2 boys doubles, Eric Boone and Javien Jackson defeated Jay Kyle and Cohen York 6-2, 6-2.
In No. 1 girls doubles, Janey Beth McRae and Lana Branch beat Charlie York and Jolie Kyle 6-3, 6-5. In No. 2 girls doubles, Nettleton's Julie Hoensch and Laynie Dodson stopped Winona's Marlee Wilkes and Lillian Jones 6-2, 6-4. In the mixed doubles match, Mylee Sullivan and Winston Housley of Nettleton defeated Winona's duo of Jemarius Sanders and Emma Marshall 7-5, 6-0.

The Winona High School archery team placed third at last week's AIMS Class 3A North State qualifier in Oxford.
The Tigers had a team score of 2,769 points. The top four scores from the males and females plus the next four highest scores made up the final point total.
For the males, Kirven McCrory had the best score with a 263. Bailey Holly shot 257, and Wheeler Chandler had a 242. Ethan Drake was fourth with a 215. Other boys who shot for Winona were Jamar Nash (209), Archie Flowers (203) and Atavis Campbell (159).
For the females, the top scorer was Emma Marshall, who shot 240. Mackenzie Vance shot a 238, and Brycelyn Townsend shot a 237. Lilly Chandler shot a 226 to finish fourth. The other girls shot shot with their scores were Ni'Khyla Baskin (221), Alicia Jackson (218), Khamiya Russell (182) and Autumn Powell (156).
The state 3A shoot is April 19 in Jackson.
The Winona Elementary School team also shot at the AIMS North 3A competition and finished with a team score of 2,197 points to place third behind Tupelo Christian and Grenada Elementary.
Dylan Johnson led the way for Winona with a 242. Others who shot with their scores were Saxon Durham (235), Dayton Watkins (216), Ivan Jamerson (193), Jessica Pearson (182), Cody Goss (182), Ryleigh Norquist (173), Jayden Holifield (167), Autumn Ramage (165), Eli Harding (157), Samantha Johnson (146) and Sadie Crumley (139).
Winona track
Winona High School will serve as the host for the District 3-3A meet to be held Friday. Other teams competing are Amanda Elzy, Humphreys County, Ruleville and Yazoo County.
