It wasn’t a pleasant Christmas for the Winona Christian Stars as they lost both games at the Columbus Christian Christmas Tournament last week.
The Stars opened with a 62-27 loss to Starkville Academy and then fell 61-50 to host Columbus Christian.
Winona will return to play in January with three straight district games, all on the road. On Friday, Jan. 4, Winona will travel to Carroll for a key game that is set to begin at 2 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 8, Carroll will travel to Marshall and then will travel to Oak Hill on Friday, Jan. 11.

The Stars struggled against Class AAA Starkville as they suffered a 35-point loss win the first day of the Columbus Christian Tournament last week.
Starkville jumped out to a 14-5 lead in the first and outscored the Stars 18-5 in the second to take a 32-10 lead at the half. Starkville then outscored Winona 19-4 in the third to lead 51-14 going into the fourth.
Latham Hill led Winona Christian with 14 points while Reed Roberts had six points.

The Rams jumped out to an early lead and were able to hold that for the majority of the game to take an 11-point win over the Stars.
Columbus led 11-5 at the end of the first and outscored the Stars 19-16 in the second to lead 30-21 at the half. After each team scored 14 points in the third, Columbus used a 17-15 advantage in the fourth to take the win.
Dalton Wiggins led a balanced scoring attack for Winona with 15 points. Reed Roberts and Latham Hill each had 13 points apiece for the Stars while Deuce Irwin added nine points.
