Both Carroll Academy basketball teams came away with second-place finishes in last week’s District 1-AA Tournament.
The Lady Rebels opened with a 36-32 win over Winona Christian before falling 43-34 to Central Holmes in the finals.
The script was much the same for the Rebels as they beat Oak Hill 50-45 in the semifinals and lost 49-30 to Marshall.
Both teams advance to the North AA Tournament this week at Marshall Academy. The Rebels will face District 2-AA No. 3 seed Greenville Christian on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in an elimination contest. A win there would land the Rebels in the semifinals against the winner of Greenville St. Joseph and Central Holmes.
The Lady Rebels also play on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. as they take on District 2-AA No. 3 seed Tri-County Academy. A win there would put the Lady Rebels in the semifinals on Friday at 4:15 p.m. against the winner of Manchester Academy and Winona Christian.

Playing for the third time this season, the Lady Rebels took a tight four-point win in the tournament semifinals on Thursday.
Carroll led most of the first half as they outscored Winona 8-7 in the first and 13-9 in the second for a 21-16 halftime lead. After outscoring Winona 5-4 in the third to extend the lead to 26-20, the Lady Stars took the fourth period 12-10 for the final margin.
Sandy Rhea Tackett led Carroll with 15 points and four steals. Belle Sanders had eight points and four steals while Chloe Richardson and Gracie Turner each had five rebounds.

The Lady Trojans opened quick and finished strong to take a nine-point win the division title.
Central Holmes led 14-9 at the end of the first and 23-16 at the half. But Carroll cut into that margin by outscoring Central Holmes 8-4 in the third to make the score 27-24 going into the fourth. Central Holmes finished off the game by outscoring Carroll 16-10 to take the win.
Belle Sanders led Carroll with 11 points while Gracie Turner and Sandy Rhea Tackett each had nine points apiece.

Oak Hill 45
The Rebels got out to a quick lead but had to come from behind in the fourth to take a five-point win over the Raiders in the tournament semifinals.
Carroll jumped out to a 20-1l lead but Oak Hill outscored the Rebels 16-4 in the second to take a 27-24 lead into the half. Oak Hill expanded its lead by one in the third, outscoring Carroll 11-10 to lead 38-34 going into the fourth. But Carroll outscored Oak Hill 16-7 in the fourth to take the win.
Reese Fulton had another double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds while Logan Taylor had 11 points.

The Patriots used a stingy defense to take a 19-point win over the Rebels in the tournament finals on Saturday.
Marshall led 8-4 at the end of the first and 19-8 at the half. The Patriots continued to add to their lead in the second half, outscoring Carroll 14-12 in the third and 16-10 in the fourth.
Reese Fulton led the Rebels with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Brett Harper added five points.
