The Winona tennis team had a full day of action Saturday, with a 4-3 victory over Morton and a 5-2 loss to Forest.
“We have a long way to go, but we're improving,” said Coach Lance VanHorn. “They're all moving in the right direction.”
Mackenzie Weeks led the way against Morton with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in girls singles. The Tigers' other points came on straight set wins by Kirvin McCrory and Khristian Williams at No. 1 boys doubles, Sam Matriasciano and Carson Holly at boys No. 2 boys doubles and Murry Catherine Alderman and Donovan Weathers in mixed doubles.
The winners against Forest were Matriasciano and Holly in straight sets at boys No. 2 doubles and Jane Beth McRae and Emma Rickles in No. 2 girls doubles with a 10-7 victory in the tiebreaker.
Winona played defending state champion St. Andrew's Tuesday.
